Security Research Event 2022

After more than a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the SRE 2022 will gather around 800 participants representing a wide range of security stakeholders as well as a wide number of policy-makers from across Europe. The event will mark the first year after the launch of Horizon Europe, the new framework programme for research and innovation for which the first projects will be starting in the months following the SRE 2022.

About the event

The 2022 edition of the Security Research Event will explore how security research contributes to the overall resilience of our society against disasters and crises. The conference will therefore take stock of the best practices identified during the COVID-19 crisis and, from this starting point, will look at how security research has been and will continue helping Europe to be better prepared and respond to this kind of dramatic situations.

Security Research Event 2019

The SRE 2019 emphasised the need to deepen collaboration between funding schemes to ensure a successful market uptake of the positive outcomes of security research. The event also focused on the need for security research to keep up to speed with a fast-changing environment to fully exploit the opportunities, and address the threats, posed by new technological trends such as Artificial Intelligence.

Security Research Event 2018

Co-organised by the European Commission and the Austrian Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology, the Security Research Event 2018 gathered around 1000 participants from across Europe in Brussels. The focus of the event was on demonstrating the impact of security research with special attention given to project communication and dissemination.
